![]() ![]() I'd say most people dont even know its an option in the game. ![]() IIRC there wasn't even any fan fare or general announcement when it got implemented, just some fineprint in a patch note. And since the implementation flew under the radar for most people I think this would only serve to exacerbate confusion. If speed of sound simulation was present from the get go this would be less of a problem, but seeing as it got implemented fairly late in development it might be perceived as bug, especially if you haven't experienced in the past. There will always be new players to the game not expecting it or old players coming back not knowing it is a thing that will question it. With the nature of games, when you see a thing and it doesn't react as you expect it to behave then one of the more immediate conclusions one draws is that it is unintended and/or a bug, especially if that thing has not been explained as intended beforehand. I guarantee you, if they set it to default then there would be an influx of people making threads about sound delay and sound issues, misinterpreting it as a bug for all eternity, no matter how many times you explained it to the community. If people come to complain about it then just explain that it's how sound works in the real world. But interesting i am also curious if it is simulated in game. ![]() However this would only be plausible in isolated cases as the battlefield tends to be much too noisy to accurately isolate and hone in on individual sounds. Sound is 331 m/s, whereas at 20.0 ☌, it is 343 m/s, but I dont know if gaijin simulates that). Simply having the game being audible is good enough for most consumers.Īctually this could be considered an advantage, seeing someone fire from afar and counting the sound delay - and you could potentially figure out the distance by sound alone.įor example, seeing a muzzle flash and hearing the gun fire three seconds later means he is roughly 1km away (At 0☌, the speed of People are generally pretty ignorant when it comes all things relating to sound, things such as speed of sound, pitch, decibel, echo, reverb, doppler effect or even what sound itself is. If it was on by default people would take to the forums en masse complaining about there being a sound delay and stating that the audio is completely broken. ![]()
